The Sport Team is responsible for the strategy, governance and co-ordination of sport in the UK and aims to encourage everyone to get active and engage in sport at every level. We work closely with our four arm's length bodies: UK Sport; Sport England; UK Anti-Doping; and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority.

The Sport Team covers areas including Olympic and Paralympic sport, professional sport, grassroots sports participation, sports economy, diversity in sport, sport integrity (i.e. anti-doping and anti-corruption) and sport diplomacy.

We also work closely with other government departments, including the Department for Education and Department for Health and Social Care.

With exposure to some of the most exciting teams, leagues and grassroots organisations that are pushing hard to grow all levels of sport, this is a great time to work on a high profile and fast moving policy area.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the DCMS Sport Team, leading on our strategic work on Sport diversity and Governance, playing a pivotal role in developing, influencing, and implementing national policy that addresses critical challenges and unlocks new opportunities within the sporting landscape.

You will be at the forefront of driving meaningful change, working to ensure that sport is accessible, equitable, and well-governed for everyone, regardless of background or ability. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of policy development, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The role holder will need to understand Government priorities and translate these into high impact policy interventions. The role will involve a large amount of stakeholder engagement, working with colleagues in other government departments, agencies and non-governmental organisations, both in person and in writing.

This is a high profile and high impact area of work, ideal for someone keen to ensure greater diversity, inclusivity, and robust governance across the sector, and offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference.
