We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Personal Care Assistant to support an elderly disabled female living with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. This is a direct employment role (not through an agency) providing personalised, one-to-one care within a private home setting.

The core working hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. You will also need to be flexible to cover weekday shifts as required, particularly to cover staff sickness or annual leave.

You will assist with a variety of personal, medical, domestic, and social care tasks to help the individual maintain independence, dignity, and a high quality of life in accordance with their personalised care plan. Collaboration with family members and other carers will be an important part of the role.

Employment is subject to satisfactory references, a probation period, right to work verification, DBS check, health assessment, and successful completion of the required training programme.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide personal care including washing, dressing, incontinence care (catheter), PEG feeding (Pump and Bolus), and medication administration
• Maintain a clean, hygienic environment: cleaning, laundry, equipment sanitation, and managing household supplies
• Offer companionship and emotional support, and assist with social visits or outings
• Accurately complete care records and medication reports; respond to health concerns or emergencies
• Safely perform manual handling tasks using appropriate equipment (hoists, wheelchairs, slide sheets)
• Work both independently and as part of a small care team, with flexibility to cover additional shifts and public holidays
• Participate in ongoing training, development, and supervision, and undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and health assessment checks as appropriate.

Person Specification

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Intermediate IT skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy, with strong initiative
• Proven ability to follow instructions and adapt to change
• Capable of working both independently and in a team
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
• Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding practices

Desirable Criteria:
• First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain one)
