Join Our OOH Team – Providing Safety, Support & Hope

At Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS), we help individuals build safer, more hopeful futures. We’re looking for compassionate and confident people to join our bank team, working evenings, weekends, and overnight to support residents in our substance misuse refuge and across our wider refuge network.

What you’ll be doing

Offering a warm welcome to new residents arriving out-of-hours.
Supporting residents with recovery goals and move-on plans.
Providing emotional support, safety planning, and practical advice.
Checking in on residents across our refuges to ensure wellbeing and comfort.
Coordinating with colleagues and services when extra support is needed.
Keeping refuges safe, secure, and welcoming.
A typical shift might look like…
You begin with a handover from the day team. A call comes in from someone exploring refuge options — you listen, offer reassurance, and arrange a safe arrival for the next day. Later, you chat with residents, offering encouragement and guidance with their plans. You might pop over to another refuge for a friendly welfare check, then wrap up with a detailed handover for the next shift.

Who this role might suit

You’re calm, empathetic, and a natural problem-solver.
You communicate with warmth and clarity, while maintaining healthy boundaries.
You’re confident working independently but value being part of a supportive team.
You may have experience in support work, housing, substance misuse, mental health, or social care — or you may bring transferable skills and a desire to make a difference.
What we offer

Full training and ongoing development.
The opportunity to work alongside a passionate, supportive team.
The chance to make a real difference in people’s lives, every single shift
