LGBTQ+ Duty Worker

Location: London Office (3 days working from home)

Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm

Contract Length: 3 months with potential to extend

We are looking for a Duty Worker to join our team on a temporary basis. The Duty Worker will provide crisis intervention and referral management across all specialisms, with a particular focus on our Domestic Abuse and Trans and Non-Binary (TNBI) queues. This is a dynamic role that requires the ability to work under pressure while delivering compassionate, person-centred support.

Key responsibilities

  • Triage and manage new referrals into the service, ensuring timely allocation to queues/advocates and provision of initial support.

  • Act as the first point of contact for new referrals, providing short-term crisis intervention and initial needs/risk assessments.

  • Deliver short-term support to clients through safety planning, information, and advocacy on housing, legal remedies, welfare, and health.

  • Manage a busy triage workload with competing priorities, balancing urgent referrals and crisis work.

  • Ensure effective signposting and referrals to specialist services, including MARAC and Social Care, where required.

Skills & experience

  • Experience in triage, crisis intervention, and supporting survivors of domestic abuse and/or other forms of abuse.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and safety planning.

  • Proven ability to manage high referral volumes and prioritise effectively within a fast-paced duty function.

  • Commitment to inclusive, by-and-for services, with understanding of the needs and barriers faced by LGBT+ survivors.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
