Senior Support Worker – based in our step down unit The Cottages (Harewood Park Nursing Home)

Location: Cheadle, Staffordshire
Pay: £13.60 per hour
Contract: Permanent | Part-Time
Hours: 24 per week | 07:15 – 19:15 | Rolling rota including weekends and bank holidays

We’re looking for a confident and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team at The Cottages, part of Harewood Park Nursing Home. This is a rewarding leadership role where you’ll guide and support others while ensuring the highest standards of care for our residents.

About The Cottages

Located within Harewood Park, The Cottages provide residential and rehabilitation support for adults living with enduring mental health needs, mild learning disabilities, and acquired brain injuries. Our aim is to empower each person to build confidence, develop independence, and achieve meaningful progress in a supportive, homely environment.

Your Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll act as a role model and team lead during your shifts ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and person-focused care at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and supporting the care team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support
Delegating tasks and overseeing daily care delivery and safety checks
Monitoring residents’ wellbeing and promptly reporting any concerns
Supporting residents to develop confidence, independence, and life skills
Completing and reviewing care and risk plans accurately and on time
Assisting with rota planning, audits, and staff supervision when required
Ensuring compliance with policies, documentation, and regulatory standards
What We’re Looking For

✔ NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (essential)
✔ NVQ/QCF Level 3 (desirable)
✔ Proven experience in a care or support setting
✔ Confident communicator with strong leadership and mentoring skills
✔ Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
✔ Passionate about supporting people to achieve positive outcomes
