The job:
The employer is a 39-year-old woman who lives independently and has complex medical needs including severe ME, and is also awaiting assessments for neurodiversity. The employer’s medical conditions are variable, and her needs change from day to day, but help is required for all aspects of daily living both at home and in the community, in order to maintain independence and promote a fun and active lifestyle.
The right person:
If you have a fun, caring nature, this could be a rewarding job for you. You should have a positive outlook, be encouraging and able to promote independence, whilst being adaptable and able to think on your feet in a variety of situations.
You should have experience of supporting adults in both health and social care settings but be open minded to being led by the employer to deliver personalised care. Have a basic understanding of food safety, infection control and the use of PPE. Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and record keeping.
This role includes personal care, therefore the employer is requesting that applicants are female.
Being a qualified driver, with the use of a vehicle for work purposes is desirable, but not essential.
Being able and willing to swim is also desirable in order to provide support during social and leisure activities with the employer.
The hours:
8 hours per week including 1 weekend day and evening. Weekend work patterns may be open to negotiation in agreement with other support workers.
Core hours: Tuesday evenings 5pm - 7pm and Friday evenings 7pm – 9pm.
Saturday mornings 7.30am – 9.30am Saturday evening 7.00pm-9.00pm.
This role involves working as part of a small care team to support the employer therefore extra hours will be available for holiday and absence cover.
The rates of pay and benefits:
£13.60 per hour and 5.6 weeks (pro-rata) paid holidays.
