Role Purpose

The Advanced Practitioner will play a key role in supporting the Adult Safeguarding Team at Telford and Wrekin Council. This role involves leading complex safeguarding enquiries, providing professional guidance to colleagues, and ensuring high-quality, person-centred practice across adult social care services.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake and coordinate complex safeguarding enquiries, ensuring statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 are met.

Provide expert advice, supervision, and mentoring to less experienced social workers and practitioners.

Lead on complex casework, demonstrating advanced skills in risk assessment, decision-making, and multi-agency working.

Support the development of best practice in safeguarding adults, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy, and procedure.

Contribute to quality assurance, learning reviews, and service improvement initiatives.

Work collaboratively with partners including health services, the police, and voluntary organisations to promote safety and wellbeing.

Maintain accurate and timely records in line with professional and Council standards.

Participate in duty rota, case discussions, and reflective supervision sessions as required.

Skills and Requirements needed

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Substantial post-qualification experience in adult social care, specifically within safeguarding or complex case management.

Strong understanding of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and related statutory guidance.

Proven ability to lead, support, and mentor staff, promoting professional development and reflective practice.

Excellent analytical, communication, and partnership working skills.

Ability to manage high workloads and competing demands effectively.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
