Waking Night Support Worker

Location: Tiptree, Colchester

Hours: Average 15 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, part-time

Salary: £13.78 per hour + great benefits

At Dimensions UK, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live life to the fullest. As one of the UK's leading not-for-profit providers of support for people with learning disabilities and autism, we're proud to create workplaces where staff feel valued, supported, and part of something bigger.

About the role

You'll be part of a 2:1 waking night team, supporting one woman in her 40s who lives independently in her own bungalow. She's very active in her social life, loves pool, darts, karaoke, horror films, and heading out to the pub. At home, she has music on 24/7 and enjoys banter, singing, and dancing with staff.

During the night, your role will be to:

- Provide reassurance and a friendly presence while she sleeps or spends time at home.

- Be available if she needs prompting with meals or wants to have a chat.

- Maintain a calm, safe environment and respond to any needs that arise.

- Work closely with your colleague to ensure consistent, person-centred support.

She manages her own personal care and is very independent, so your focus will be on communication, companionship, and ensuring she feels supported overnight.

What you'll need

- A driver's licence is essential.

- A positive, bubbly personality - someone who loves to chat, laugh, and join in.

- Reliability and attentiveness during waking night shifts.

Your rota is planned in advance and will follow a repeating 4-week pattern, for example:

- Week 1: Sunday - 9 hours

- Week 2: Tuesday & Wednesday - 18 hours

- Week 3: Saturday - 9 hours

- Week 4: Monday, Saturday & Sunday - 27 hours

Benefits of working with Dimensions

- Competitive pay with yearly pay reviews.

- 30 days annual leave entitlement (pro rata).

- Pension and life assurance.

- Free parking at the home.

- Paid training with opportunities to gain recognised qualifications.

- Employee assistance programme and wellbeing support.

Additional Information:

- We value diversity and welcome applications from all eligible candidates.

- As Disability Confident Leaders, we ensure fair consideration for disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.

- Support is available to complete your application, including British Sign Language translated videos for recruitment communications.

- Applications are reviewed upon receipt, and interviews will take place until the positions are filled.
