Senior Community Support Worker - LD Respite (Oldham)

Salary: £31,000-£34,000 + enhancements
Hours: 35 per week, 24/7 rota (including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins & standby)
Reports to: Resource Manager
Service: 4-bedded Learning Disability Respite Service (supporting approx. 30 individuals)

Overview

This is a frontline senior role within a busy Learning Disability Respite service. You'll provide hands-on support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge, while also taking on key operational responsibilities. Working closely with the Resource Manager, you will help maintain high-quality, safe, and person-centred care during respite stays that support families and carers.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver direct, practical support to service users, ensuring dignity, choice, and independence.

Lead shifts, ensuring safe staffing, smooth running of the service, and effective handovers.

Support with rota planning and the coordination of day-to-day service operations.

Complete high-quality documentation, including care plans, risk assessments, CHC evidence, and EMAR medication records.

Maintain accurate digital records and utilise electronic systems confidently.

Build strong communication links with families, MDTs, and external agencies.

Promote a positive, safe environment for individuals with complex and challenging needs.




What We're Looking For

Strong experience in learning disabilities and autism (residential or respite preferred).

Confident supporting complex needs and behaviours that challenge.

Competent with digital systems, email, and written reports.

Experience leading shifts, supervising staff, or supporting rota management.

A hands-on worker who is comfortable with practical support tasks.

Excellent communication and professional record-keeping skills.

Able to work flexibly across a 24/7 rota including sleep-ins and standby.
