Job title: Personal Assistant/Support worker
Location: Newquay
Hours of work: 6 hours per week
Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour
Introduction:
A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a lovely lady to access her community for 6 hours a week. The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this lady to manage their support independently. This lady is a disabled Artist and writer who is need of a PA to support these activities. Training can be provided as required and where available. Must have own transport and a full, clean driving licence. This lady has her own vehicle and she likes to do her own driving.

Main Duties:
To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may
make from time to time.
Support and encourage her with gaining independence and enable her to interact socially within her community.
Support with attending appointments and also therapy.
Support and encourage her with activities such as accessing the Beach, Pentre Ifan, St Davids, Cinema, Art galleries, Theatre, Painting, Gardening, Cooking and other activities of interest.
To support with taking notes for her dictation of poetry.
Some assistance required to get shopping and some heavy lifting maybe required.
Ensure her safety at all times during your working period.
Befriending.
Local knowledge of activities available would be advantageous to this post, as the hours worked will be off-site within the community.

Reliable with good time keeping.
Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy
An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
Good communication and inter-personal skills.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
