Homeless Recovery Worker


Location: Birmingham

Salary: £18-20 per hour Umbrella

Contract: Temporary 3-4 months



*Monday-Friday - will require flexibility to work early morning and late evenings/weekends when required*



Are you passionate about making a real difference for people experiencing homelessness? We're looking for a proactive and compassionate Homeless Recovery Worker in Birmingham to connect individuals sleeping rough or insecurely housed with the services and support they need to move forward.




In this pivotal role, you'll be the link between local hostels, the council, health and social care teams, and community organisations. You'll help people access the right services, ensure smooth transitions between providers, and champion a joined-up, best-practice approach to homelessness support.



What a Homeless Recovery Worker does:



  • Build strong communication and referral pathways across local services.

  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and strengthen partnerships with health, mental health, housing, and voluntary organisations.

  • Support individuals moving between areas, including coordinating care handovers and ensuring continuity of support.

  • Provide culturally informed engagement for Eastern European and Sub-Saharan African rough sleeping communities.

  • Hold short-term cases (4-6 weeks) to ensure individuals successfully engage with new services.



What You'll Bring as a Homeless Recovery Worker



  • Experience working with people who are homeless or rough sleeping.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and engaging individuals with diverse needs.

  • (Desirable) Knowledge of the local area and local support networks.
