The roles and responsibilities of a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) include (but not limited to): Making sure patients are comfortable Helping patients move around Washing and dressing patients Taking basic observations and updating patient records Keeping departments tidy and ensuring equipment is clean Serving meals and helping patients eat Administering medication to patients Collecting, storing, and labeling biological specimens Keeping hospital supplies properly stocked and organized Working closely with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, physicians, and therapists in order to provide patients with exceptional careSupport workers may also provide physical and emotional support, encourage and support the development of personal skills, and help with household tasks
