I live on my own with my beloved cat, who is a great source of support and comfort to me. I am in my late 80’s, and have a great sense of humour.

I currently have agency support, however I would like to reduce this support and have a PA, working alongside the agency, to do a tea time call, help out with personal care and food preparation, and to support me to manage my health conditions, including diabetes, stroke damage and macular degeneration. I am very fond of toast, sweet treats, omelettes and fish and chips but I don’t enjoy mash and can’t manage anything that is too tough any more. I don’t get out much but I do need to get some fresh air now and again.
-
Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Moving and handling
- Clinical tasks
- Other relevant duties as required
- Cooking
- Companionship
- Looking after pets
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- I am shy about personal care, so need someone, who will understand this and work with me to overcome my shyness
- I choke easily, so you will need to listen out for me when I’m eating
- I lack confidence with climbing and descending stairs, so need a person who will work with me to increase my confidence.
- I sometimes need support to choose appropriate clothing.
- I don’t do much exercise and may need help and encouragement with short walks

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Must be comfortable with pets
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
- I would like a PA with patience, understanding and a sense of humour, with experience of working with older people
- Driving license preferred but not essential

Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
