Personal Assistant (PA)/Support Worker

About the Direct Payment Holder We are looking for a team of support workers for a 29 year old man. J has diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disability, mild Scoliosis, Pen Planus (flat feet) and hypermobility, he has limited verbal communication but can usually make his needs known, he is generally happy but can display some behaviour challenges similar to attention seeking behaviour. J lives with his family, he has lots of energy and enjoys being outside going for long walks, he loves food and enjoys signing and dancing.
Hours and rate of pay hours 89.5 hours per week in total, there is some flexibility around number of hours you can/want to work we are looking for a team of at least 4 people to share these hours. Paid at £13.90 per hour.

DBS/Checks Confirmation of Enhanced DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
What you would be doing… Morning support - getting up, washed/showered, dressed and ready for the day as well as support preparing & eating breakfast, it is important to encourage J to complete as many tasks as he can himself to promote independence. J can follow instruction but it can take time for him to complete the instruction.

Afternoon support with accessing the community and day services, community support is 2:1 to ensure J is safe so you will be working alongside colleagues.

Required skills and experience It is essential you have experience of supporting others with Autism & Learning Disabilities.
If you can drive that would be preferred, it is essential we have some drivers in our team to drive J’s mobility vehicle when accessing the community/day services.
We are looking for positive role models for J to learn/improve daily living skills.
As a family we are very involved in J’s support so you will need to be able to communicate well and be respectful of family privacy.
