We are Work with York Limited and our client is looking for a full time Support Worker within their temporary accommodation services in traveller sites, we are looking for people willing to work a variety of shifts, our scheme accommodates and supports some of Yorks most vulnerable people.


This is a 3 month role with an immediate start, working a shift pattern 37 hours per week between 8.30am – 8pm and working 1 weekend, both days, in every 4.


Pay rates range £14.26 to £17.11, various shifts available on a 4-week rota.


We pay weekly using online timesheets, offer a workplace pension scheme, holiday pay, and online training given.


Ideally you will have:
Knowledge of the specific issues facing travellers.
Knowledge of the specific issues facing people that are homeless.
Understanding of housing management.
Knowledge of welfare benefits system.
Excellent Literacy and numeracy skills, computer skills.
Excellent telephone skills, interpersonal skills, diplomacy, tact, sensitivity and objectivity.


You will need to:
Have risk assessment awareness, prioritisation, and life skills, as well as the ability to make decisions based on complex situations in a potentially volatile situation.
Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with customer and consult with other professionals in emergency situations.
Be able to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a larger team.
Have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Have an basic DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
