This role would suit someone who is patient, compassionate and comfortable providing attentive, hands-on care in a relaxed home environment.

He requires consistent routine and approach to reduce his behaviours that challenge. He can exhibit challenging behaviour if he is unable to complete his routine including hitting himself. He religiously cleans bathrooms, tables, floors and it is challenging to get him to stop.

When his care calls are ending and it is time to return home, he can run away from his carers and refuse to go home, instead walking along the seafront or similar. These behaviours that challenge are being supported by other agencies and the use of objects of reference (such as red cards) are used to indicate to him that the activity is ending however on occasion these routines are not successful. Carers never leave him unsupervised until he is supported back to his home with his mother, so at times that he does abscond, He is supported until he is ready to return home.

He enjoys going for walks at Sovereign harbour and the beach.

To develop a personalised daily routine which prevents social isolation and enables him to participate in the community. To promote his independence and develop his personal living skills. To maintain and develop relationships.

This position offers the opportunity to become part of a close-knit, supportive care team and to make a genuine difference in the life of a young man who responds warmly to consistent, thoughtful care.
