I am a 30-year-old lady living in Kenilworth with my father, who is my main carer, and we would be your Employers. I suffer from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, commonly known as ME, which causes me to have severe and debilitating fatigue, painful muscles/joints and affects my mobility greatly. As I am unable to walk or stand, I am a wheelchair user and need assistance in transferring into and out of my chair. I require a personal assistant for support to maintain my independence at home and when out. Due to the nature of my disability, I am unable to complete most of my personal care and daily living tasks.

About the Role
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Cooking/meal preparation and serving meals/snacks/drinks.
• Assist with laundry, household chores and general homemaking.
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene in kitchen, bathroom, shower room and WC.
• Support to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctor/dentist.
• Support to get to and from social activities.
• Support to access leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialising and participating in activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.

My needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and/or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

• Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
• Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
• Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved.
• Have a lively personality and possess a good sense of humour.
• Be able to work flexibly, adapting to the employers needs on a daily basis.
Required Training

Successful candidates may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.
Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer. Pushing and manoeuvring a wheelchair is necessary, requiring the candidate to be reasonably fit and in good general health.

Hourly Rate of pay: £12.50 rising to £13.00 After successfully completing probation period
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours per week: Minimum of 18

Typical days/times required:
• Tuesday, 11:30 to 17:30
• Wednesday, 11:30 to 17:30
• Thursday, 11:30 to 17:30

Occasionally days and times may vary and occasional evening/weekend shifts, sleep-ins and travel may be required and can be discussed at interview.
