Adult Social Care Team Manager

Lead a specialist safeguarding team delivering trauma informed, strengths based practice within adult social care. This role focuses on safeguarding, multi-agency working, care planning and leadership to achieve positive outcomes.

SALARY: £57,870 to £61,269 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid working from the office in Wokingham, Berkshire, and from home

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Adult Social Care Team Manager to lead a newly established service supporting adults with complex needs.

The Adult Social Care Team Manager will oversee a small, specialist team delivering trauma informed, relational and strengths based practice. Working across safeguarding and community settings, the focus is on engagement, risk management and person-centred support.

As an Adult Social Care Team Manager you will build and develop a new team, shape service delivery and embed innovative approaches. You will work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to improve outcomes and support vulnerable adults.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Adult Social Care Team Manager include:

• Provide Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day team activity, ensuring fair workload distribution and effective resource management

• Embed Best Practice: Champion trauma informed and strengths based approaches across all safeguarding and care planning activity

• Support Team Development: Coach, mentor and supervise staff, promoting continuous professional development

• Manage Safeguarding Activity: Ensure statutory duties are met in line with Care Act requirements and safeguarding frameworks

• Lead Multi-Agency Working: Build strong partnerships with health, voluntary and community organisations

• Drive Service Improvement: Contribute to service development, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives

• Oversee Performance Management: Monitor quality, compliance and outcomes, addressing issues promptly and fairly

• Handle Complex Cases: Provide guidance and leadership on high-risk and complex situations

• Promote Positive Culture: Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive working environment

• Support Change Management: Guide the team through transformation with clear, calm leadership


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Social Work or Occupational Therapy qualification with current professional registration

• Previous experience in adult social care, safeguarding or community services

• Proven experience of managing or supervising teams in a multi-agency environment

• Strong knowledge of trauma informed and strengths based practice

• Experience working with individuals with complex needs or who are difficult to engage

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Ability to make complex decisions and manage risk effectively

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Ability to analyse performance data and drive service improvements

• Full driving licence or ability to travel as required

DESIRABLE

• Management qualification or willingness to work towards one

• Experience working within governance frameworks

• Background in coaching, mentoring or staff development

• Experience leading service transformation or new service development

• Knowledge of local authority or public sector environments
