Mary Seacole Housing Association provides specialist housing-related support to individuals with complex needs. We are committed to delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred services that empower people to move towards independence.
Our SHINE Women’s Service is a 24 hour trauma-informed, women-only service supporting women who are sleeping rough or at immediate risk of homelessness. Many of the women we support have experienced domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, trauma, or multiple disadvantage, and require a safe and responsive environment.
Important Information (Genuine Occupational Requirement)
This role is within a women-only service supporting women who have experienced trauma, including domestic abuse and exploitation.
As such, this post is open to female applicants only, in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 (Genuine Occupational Requirement).
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to provide overnight support, safety, and crisis response within our SHINE service.
This is a frontline role where you will ensure the safety, wellbeing, and stability of clients throughout the night, responding to risk, providing emotional support, and maintaining a calm and secure environment.
The role includes working across multiple sites during the night where required to meet client needs.
Shift pattern: 7 nights per fornight (14 shifts per month) 20:00pm - 07:00am
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients overnight, carrying out regular welfare checks
Respond to crisis situations, safeguarding concerns, and disclosures of trauma
Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive women-only environment
Carry out night-time assessments and contribute to support and safety plans
Monitor the building, reporting health & safety or maintenance issues
Work collaboratively with external agencies and internal teams
Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports, and safeguarding records
About You
You will be compassionate, resilient, and able to work confidently in a lone-working, night-time environment supporting women with complex needs.
You will have:
Stong experience supporting vulnerable women or adults with complex needs
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and use sound judgement
