A little about myself:
I am a young man living in Swansea with learning disabilities and additional needs. The role as my PA is a varied, person-centred role involving personal care, social and community support, companionship and practical support within the family home. The successful candidate should be approachable, easy to get along with and able to build a natural, trusting relationship with him while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Essential:
I need you to:

• Be comfortable providing personal care.
• Be willing to help with practical household duties, including cooking and cleaning.
• Be able to work independently and use good judgement.
• Be flexible and willing to support a range of activities both at home and in the community.
Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• You have previous experience in care or supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential for the right person.
I’d like support with:
• Personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming and toileting where required.
• Supporting independence and daily living skills.
• Accompanying me on days out, social activities, shopping, appointments and community activities.
• Encouraging hobbies, interests, social inclusion and age-appropriate experiences.
• Preparing and cooking meals.
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
