A little about myself:
I am a young boy living in Swansea. I have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Global Developmental Delay. I enjoy activities that help me stay regulated, such as going for long walks in the community. I rely on my parent / carers to meet all my care needs, including personal care.

Hours of work
2 hours x 39 weeks a year (term time)

Rate of pay.
£13.50

Essential
I need you to:
• Have a good understanding of neurodivergence, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is important when supporting me.
• To build trust through empathy, patience, and a genuine ability to connect with me.
• To support my routine as this is very important to me.

Desirable:
I’d prefer if:
• Understands the importance of consistency and provides support with kindness and respect.

I’d like support with:
• Support to access activities in the community that keep me active, engaged, and help me stay regulated.
• Someone who can help me feel calm, safe, and supported especially when routines change.
• Opportunities to develop independence and positive experiences outside of the family home.

I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time and communicate if there is an issue.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
